Davie Rescue Swift Water Rescue team was activated to stay in county last Thursday at 1200 until it was determined by the NCEM Central Branch office that we were not needed locally. Saturday Morning we were Deployed to the NCEM Western Branch where we were sent to Bakersville in Mitchell County. We were housed in the Bakersville FD along with Wake Forest and Knightdale FD’s. Rockingham Swift Water was also deployed to Mitchell County but was housed in another location. We all ran calls together from water calls to welfare checks and USAR. Bakersville FD welcomed us in and treated us all as family! Even without running water and sometimes with no power and only radio communications, they helped us out with anything we needed. We encountered things that the only word you can say is mercy!
We were released from our 7 day deployment yesterday and all arrived home safely! Please PRAY for the safety of the other teams that are still in place and for the ones affected by this disaster. Thank You to everyone that reached out to us for our needs and supporting our families while we were gone.
